I'm not sure I'll make this a habit to post about because the epstein files are horrific and I don't want my mental health becoming worse again. Someone stronger than me has to do that.

But if I manage to get one person away from these conspiracies then it's worth it.

The truth of the matter is that Epstein and his associate's crimes are instead horrifically mundane and how normalised their sexual abuse to children is to them.

I think this is all I want to say, I'm not even any expert or journalist, but we need to all do our part to combat misinformation online

When you invite these conspiracies, you invite bigotry, scapegoating, grifting, and devalue the severity of the real crimes that have happened. You make the wrong enemy, when the real enemy all along is the rich and their capitalist system that supports these trafficking and genociding bastards.

Epstein's crimes are not a religion issue, because you don't need to worship a evil blood god to do evil things.

You only need to think you're right, think it's normal, or just don't care. Plus if you are rich and powerful and can avoid consequences scott free? That can be all it takes.

It is also no coincidence that these conspiracies have been peddled by right wing christians as well. Because a good good fearing Christian can never do bad, right? When of course, systemic abuse in Christian communities has been a historically long documented phenomenon.

You don't need me to tell you that Israel does not represent the entire Jewish community. Many criticisms to Israel have been made by Jewish people, including those of Orthodox denominations that follow the holy scriptures as strictly as possible.

I've even seen people say that Israel's genocide against the Palestinians is all part of one big Jewish blood sacrifice, and... Where do I begin with this?

You've probably seen a lot of people now talk about how Baal is a 'demon that the Jews worship' and why Judaism is so 'crazy', make no mistake, this is antisemitism and is not reflective of truth. The real Baal is more a title that's debated about by Jewish scholars to this day

A prime example of this was the accusations of blood libel against the Jewish people. In fact, many modern conspiracies still take from very antisemitic origins. Accusations of eating babies and drinking blood has long been used against Jewish people.

As you can guess, accusations of satanic ritual abuse was often thrown at various disenfranchised groups that could be Othered. If you look back further in history these kinds of moral panics where a group is accused of horrific acts to be scapegoated are a repeating pattern.

The satanic panic is a lot to get into through just one bsky thread and there's plenty of documentation on it you can research on your own, but the main point of it here, is that it was a moral panic used by the american conservatives as a scapegoat for the economic and social ills of the time.

But why care? Why care about the accusation of demonic worship and child sacrifice when Jeffrey and his associates are already evil abusive people?

If you lived through the 80s or are already familiar with conspiracy lingo, you may have noticed this sounds very similar to the Satanic Panic.
