I was preaching at a church dedicated to St Christopher last Sunday, and on researching Christopher's legend I discovered that before he was "Christopher" he was "Scoundrel" - which is also a category of ne'er-do-well we seem to have lost in recent years.

I would have thought that kind of thing is encompassed by referring to someone as a "good egg" - which pleasingly is gender-neutral.

The picture painted by the TMS commentary was not a good one ... 😢
