There's also this, which you can get as an e-book, although that might be a bit more on the legal side than you need!

I can't find anything immediately available online, but if you can wait the few days it would take for delivery, this would probably be helpful:

I was preaching at a church dedicated to St Christopher last Sunday, and on researching Christopher's legend I discovered that before he was "Christopher" he was "Scoundrel" - which is also a category of ne'er-do-well we seem to have lost in recent years.

I would have thought that kind of thing is encompassed by referring to someone as a "good egg" - which pleasingly is gender-neutral.

The version my dad, a now-retired parish priest, occasionally used (semi tongue-in-cheek), no matter how far in advance the thing in question was, was "Terribly sorry, I'm doing a funeral".

I think they may have tried words to that effect at various times in the last two centuries ... !

Hey, don't blame me, I'm just quoting from the Evening Standard in 1828 😁.

And I think we do have tuna melts, yes - I can't be sure because I don't like tuna.

King's: "We're not UCL"

(And I write as a member of staff at King's, who also has two degrees from this august institution, and a third from another College of the University of London, so I appreciate that I'm not entirely unbiased when it comes to "the godless institution on Gower Street" ...)

Also after spending three weeks in France, aged 15, on a school exchange programme.
I can't say my French improved a huge amount, but the visit certainly had other effects!

I started doing it after spending three weeks in France at the age of 15 on a school exchange programme. I also cross capital Zs (my lower case z looks more like a 'yogh', though, just to confuse matters!).

Although, with the announcement of the new Bishop of Worcester coming yesterday, it does mean that the next CNC meetings in the calendar are for the ABC, so it's getting closer. Slowly, granted, but it's getting closer - although by the same measure, so's the Eschaton ...

I also had a great-aunt Beryl, although she died either before I was born or when I was very small, as I don't remember her.

I've got a vague memory that I used to know someone whose mother's name was Daffodil, but for the life of me I can't remember who.

On the other hand, my paternal grandmother was Violet, albeit almost always shortened (as is the Welsh Valleys way) to Vi.
