I was shopping for an entry mats and pasted the urls in trello for wifey to review. Each link returns a 404 like wtf shouldn’t link sharing be an Internet 101 e-commerce feature? User error? Im at a loss.

Wacky startup idea I had the other day: subscribe to build wealth.

Users sign up and pay a monthly subscription. We invest it until they want it back. Like a Netflix subscription but no videos; you just get your money back someday (plus interest).

Also: reach out to previous interviewees who may have been nearly hired but lost out narrowly. Expedite the hire and spare yours devs interview time so they can build.

When I built Fluentel, I spent a lot of time thinking about time zones. But still I catch myself pausing when I have to solve problems around time zones. Happy NewYear what ever your time zone right now.

I love shared economy concepts like Uber and AirBnB. But over the years they’ve trended toward people just wanting to make a buck. On Uber there’s lower quality vehicles and drivers. On AirBnB there’s teeny tiny guesthouse cabins for the price of a hotel room. Eg this 10x10 “cute” shack. 🙄

It’s all Rails for me. See what updates in a database; log statements; new view rendering; etc. RSpec I will pry or byebug. Shameless “puts” debugging too :)

It’s hard to build a side project in your spare time with a newborn— and also while moving between homes/states.

Anyway the mvp percolated all year. Users signed up and got matched for nanny shares. Not the best experience yet; debating to make an app or shut it down to pursue other ideas. 🤔

A year ago I started Bananny nonprofit as an answer to CozyKin’s absence. Built momentum and a working MVP; applied for 501c3 and was rejected by IRS (had to call to find out; got the letter months later); still not entirely sure why. That act killed the momentum.

When it comes to software dev, I’m not a wizard programmer. But I put myself in the user’s shoes and make sure I understand the requirements end-to-end. Then just build relentlessly until it’s done.

With bib and tablemat for the kid. This new strap will secure the child to the highchair so parents can enjoy their meal without worrying their kid will fall out. I have drawings and inspiration. Need a prototype and then interview parents. Utility patent if warranted.

Meaning that a lot of the time (maybe 40%?), the highchair with all its ASTM F404-21 conformance doesn’t pass muster. Why? The straps are missing, ripped, have the wrong buckle mate… they don’t secure the child. What does this mean for the parent? You eat one-handed while the other hand…

Today I ordered some webbing material with buckles. Since my kid started solid foods, we’ve used whatever highchairs a restaurant has, and they mostly have what I call “standard restaurant highchair” probably because they’re the least expensive. The problem is the straps are about 60/40 good/bad
