This is the cost of the Senate filibuster: the last time the House, Senate and POTUS were all under D control (2020 - 2022) the House passed bills to eliminate gerrymandering and give DC statehood. The Senate did nothing on either in spite of having majority support. And so here we are.

For the love of god can we stop airing articles about "X tech bro says this is gonna happen in X years clearly just in service of a publicity stunt". No. It's not going to happen. Obviously. Why are we indulging this?

Wow love for wall street to be in 1928 while the tech giants are in 2000. Sure hope none of these precariously placed dominos are attached to anybody's pension.

We’re all saying it, but this scary-city thing is such BS. I’ve lived in Manhattan & Brooklyn since 1993, I take the subway & walk all over the place & I’ve experienced *zero* serious crime. Cities are big, dense places full of crowds & strangers, but that doesn’t make them apocalyptic crimepots

very human/very disturbing. a painfully real and in its way beautiful (abt the victim's work as a caregiver) description of a life horribly disrupted by getting caught in the nihilism maw of the Miller/Trump destruction machine.

An aerial shot captures a futuristic, boxy hovercraft with four large, circular thrusters (two on each side) seemingly landed or hovering just above a rugged, sandy, or rocky orange-brown terrain. The vehicle itself is light-colored, with some orange or reddish accents on its body. The ground below is uneven and textured, suggesting a desert or an alien planet. The lighting indicates strong sunlight, casting sharp shadows and highlighting the rough surface of the terrain.

i can't even imagine the freakout if like mamdani or ilhan omar had ever refered to lenders as "shylocks." but unlike them, trump actually has a very long history of making disparaging remarks about jews

An opinion writer is not allowed to criticize the paper on social media for using a Nazi source but the reporter who worked with the Nazi source was free to leave a long social media trail being buddy-buddy with the Nazi in public

Trump's argument for the elimination of the estate tax is that the heirs of the super rich will no longer have to go beg a predatory Jewish banker for a bridge loan to overcome cash flow problems associated with the $15 million dollar estate they're about to get.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

Yes this is the kind of bigot they seek out in order to target trans people for hate; they just expanded to letting him also source Nazis for their efforts to amplify eugenicist propaganda.

You’re my Senator, and you’re a disgrace to the office. Your last act before resigning should be to apologize. And for the record, you’ve been giving handouts to those same billionaires through your embrace of crypto grift for years β€” listening to Silicon Valley and ignoring New York entrepreneurs.

This is a critique of the masters of the universe who think so little of expertise that LLM mediocrity will take over the world.

It is not a criticism of someone who finds a tool useful for learning new things.

Forced Consent & Consent Bypass

16 June 2025
Meta announced today that it also wants to introduce ads on WhatsApp, which will be based on personal data from Facebook and Instagram. This further integrates WhatsApp into other Meta services - an originally independent app, which initially was available for just $1 per year without ads or data usage. This also means that Meta is consolidating its social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this."

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3
