What about tranpositionally similar (if not equivalent)? As when a vocal piece is transposed to a different key to accommodate vocal range, or when a composer arranges a piece in a different key (eg., Beethoven Op. 14/1)? Not equivalent, to be sure, but perhaps not entirely different?
