GDP growth right now is basically:
1. Lower imports (after pull-forward early this year)
2. AI data center investment
3. Upper income consumer spending, fueled by strong stock market (see 2)

ChatGPT boss predicts when AI could cure cancer

ChatGPT boss predicts when AI could cure cancer

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our β€œtreat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

ICE plans to use Vermont facility to host team using AI, social media to target people - The Boston Globe Vermont has also long served as an essential outpost of the US Department of Homeland Security and, in particular, its most controversial arm, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"The department’s outsize presence in Vermont is attributable to one man: former Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. For nearly half a century, Leahy steered a tsunami of federal funding to the state..."

Which sectors laid off the most workers this year? Although layoffs have been slowing, it's been an especially tough year for government workers and for staff at nonprofits that rely on federal funds.

In EV tax credit’s final days, car dealers say they face new IRS hurdles Before federal EV tax credits expire at the end of this month, dealers are seeing an influx of customers β€” but many worry payments from the IRS may be delayed.

As consumers rush to buy EVs before the tax credit ends on September 30, business is booming for dealerships. But reimbursement delays and procedural changes have meant some sellers are paying out of pocket, hopefully temporarily.
