Today is the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and we paused to remember #TheFew at a superb Dinner Night last week. Awesomely evocative speech from @spitfirefilly.bsky.social really made the night. Reminded us how much we owe them all.

Interesting lessons from the Korean War for current πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ conflict but I think the parallels with Dayton πŸ‡§πŸ‡¦ 90's peace talks are most pertinent in this pragmatic #telegram from @dsorennie.bsky.social Continuation of the conflict: 'peace by other means' neatly sums it up.

Really interesting article from @ProfPaulPoast.bsky.social in the @WPR.bsky.social recently. Interesting because he highlights that all three πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈUSSR were required to defeat Nazi Germany (and poor strategy/timing from Hitler) and I suppose it does still matter; national pride but also as a lesson?

Timely article from #Charlemagne, and whilst there are benefits from specialisation by #NATO member states, fundamentally:

'Burden-sharing means everyone must have skin in the game, including a fair share of the dangerous bit.'

Thank you for sharing @shashj.bsky.social.

Trump administration is shutting down centres of US information influence, Voice of America and others (Radio Free Europe, Free Asia, etc.). Giving the field to other States. The USAGM in charge is going down. Risk of massive and irreversible damage to US influence.

If you think you understand nuclear deterrence read this, and then you will see what it actually looks like, the practicalities and limitations for πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έand #NATO. Another highly useful and insightful article from @shashj.bsky.social in the @economist.international.
