As a coach, I’m trained to look and listen to identify what drives people. Megyn Kelly is a broken, sad individual who masks that sadness in contempt and superiority. That doesn’t justify her ghoulishness, but take a minute to ask what a woman must have experienced in life to justify child rape.

We’d have both professional journalists & citizen journalists that focus on local news & its intersection with national issues.

You might want to look at Howe & Strauss’s generational theory. They start Gen X at 1961 with Douglas Coupland’s description of then current-day youth in his novel Generation X. I have Gen X siblings born after 1964. We have the same generational outlook, unlike my cousins born in the mid 50s.

Watergate > Iran Contra > AIDS. The Boomer identity was forged in different historical events.

I thought 1960s TV shows were in color because I was alive when they were made and TV shows from the 1950s like Leave it to Beaver where in black and white because they were from the time before I was alive: ancient history. These Boomer shows’ messages just didn’t resonate.

And early Gen X was conservative, at least initially, and had a part in getting Reagan elected. I think it was a desire for normalcy after the wild 60s and 70s that many felt even if they didn’t really get until Watergate.

Yes. I have literally nothing in common with hippies born in 1947. I was watching the Brady Bunch while they were protesting Vietnam. But I can to political consciousness when Nixon resigned.

The baby boom goes to ‘64 bc of death rate rates versus births. Even though births started declining in the late 50s it wasn’t until 64 that fewer people were alive in 64 than 63. It’s a lousy way to define a generation, which is why many of us born in the early 60s identify culturally as Gen X.

The author of the book, Generation X, was born in 1961. Those of us born around this time DON’T identify as Boomers. We don’t remember the 1960 protests. We grew up in Watergate. We had to figure it out by ourselves. Obama was born in 1961. He’s the first Gen X president.

This is pretty straight forward.

I’ve used Claude to gather facts around the implementation of rank choice voting, & other issues. It gave me old information, such as not knowing particular municipalities have adopted RCV, which has made me think that there’s a time lag regarding the information its aggregating. That’s pretty bad.

It’s adorable how they use their own hierarchical military ranking structures to describe a lateral and decentralized group they can’t pin down.
