The best part of being 39 is how sometimes you get a little zit right on a “fine line” on your face and it turns it into full fledged wrinkle somehow. With a zit in it.

Woke up at 4am to the sounds of a distant but intense argument. Wondered if I should call the cops, and if it was safe to poke my head out the front door to see if someone was in danger. Then the furnace turned off and in the quiet I realized it was SpongeBob and Patrick fighting on the tv.

I will say that it’s both delightful and on-brand that despite my mom’s grip on reality and knowledge of anything about her life is tenuous at best, she never forgets about my boyfriend she’s only met twice and always asks about him because she likes him.

What’s awesome about grief is that when things are awesome you can be like “but I’ve been robbed of sharing this awesome thing with my parents” and then you get to be really sad again

My boyfriend got a new job not realizing my best friend’s boyfriend also works there (small business, so this is a bonkers coincidence) and they both texted us today saying how much they like each other and announcing their friendship. Hell yeah, double friends!

Usually as a little reward for accomplishing a task or as a treat to hype myself up...for example, I took a pre grocery shopping bite I live in Maine, but even here it's warming up, so I'll have to bring it in and put it in the fridge I suppose. Or should I just finish it right here, right now, in this parking lot? I can't think of anything duller to do with it. First Christmas in a while where I haven’t been catastrophically broke or in the middle of major life upheaval and I’m PSYCHED, I bought a pretty new wreath today and it wasn’t even from the dollar store, we’re about to be festive affff

I bought a long layered lace skirt and I kind of want to wear it every day but I know I’ll look insane wearing the same big mauve skirt daily (and lace isn’t particularly good at standing up to heavy wear). Would I look more or less insane if I bought several slightly different ones? 🤔

The same view as in the previous post’s image, but this time with black roses, black feathers and fall leaves in the vase, a string of pumpkin lantern lights in place of the garland, and some spiderweb netting over the tops of the units’ doors.

Changing out the fake floral arrangement in this vase has become my favourite middle aged mom move. This was Halloween. I’m a lousy housekeeper but I make sure there are pretty things that make me smile in my messy cluttered house anyway.

There are federal employees who have been working for years but don’t have a permanent contract in place. Attrition sounds like people leaving voluntarily or retiring, but it’s actually people depending on these jobs for their livelihood never knowing when suddenly their contract won’t be renewed.

My kids still need all new winter gear every year and it’s expensive but on the plus side my 11yo now shares my shoe size, so this year’s new boots for her can be my gently used boots next winter when she needs a replacement again.

It gave me the phrase “buzz one out” and also every time I meet a guy with a bad last name I think of “Penny Hartz-Hitler”

Gah, trying to finish up my hairdo after some elaborate heat styling and grabbed the wrong can, hit my roots with a heavy spray of saline wound wash instead of dry texturizing spray. 🤦‍♀️
