Nearly 10,000 Palestinians have been reported missing by their families in Gaza, their fates unknown, with likely thousands more nowhere to be found because they were killed with their entire family unit, health officials have said. About 6,000 people are believed to be buried under the rubble.

500 hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics are at risk of closing because of the Trump-Republican big, ugly bill. Many are in rural areas.

Meanwhile, Republican-held US House districts and states Trump won in 2024 rely more on ACA coverage.

They're selling out their own voters.

Do politicians ever listen to the people or only the powerful? Rage, rage against the dying of the light.’ Welsh word-wiz Dylan Thomas’ angry poem to his dying dad implied that the older man resisted passing. But for others, the end is welcome.

Australia has VAD. Three-quarters of respondents to a UK public poll reportedly said they’d β€œsupport making it lawful for someone to seek assisted dying,”. In the House of Commons, 314 MPs voted in favour and 291 against. #auspol #UkPoltics #VAD

When she says 'correct me if I'm wrong' she already knows she's wrong. It's intentional and deliberate to avoid answering the question.

Mobileye spills the beans: Tesla was dropped because of safety concerns Now we know who ended the relationship.

Nine years ago MobileEye, the company which provided the processors which Tesla vehicles used to understand the world around them, dumped them because β€œTesla was pushing the envelope in terms of safety." Musk’s recklessness and sociopathy writ large. arstechnica.com/cars/2016/09...

How the ALP outsourced the soul of higher education For most of its history, the Australian Labor Party spoke of education as a public good, the light on the hill, a vision of collective progress through strong institutions, universal access, and the elevation of ordinary citizens.

If Labor wishes to reclaim its moral authority, it must break with the consultant paradigm: rebuild public governance, fund socially vital disciplines and restore universities as places of learning, not revenue streams. #auspol #universitiesAU

That's why I believe in compulsory voting. Australia does it very well, not perfect, with an independent electoral commission.
The US needs to start by getting rid of the electoral college, and by having an independent body run all elections.
Voting is as much a responsibility as it is a right.

In one telling exchange Durbin reminded Bondi that β€œInvestigation of your agency is part of my responsibility” That is what oversight means in a constitutional republic. The DOJ does not belong to a president; it belongs to the people & must withstand scrutiny w/out resorting to smears or stonewalls
