Let me be clear: the only way we will get to zero road deaths is by removing human drivers. But having a reckless sociopath like Musk making life critical engineering decisions, as evidence shows he did, is not the way to go about this.

Mobileye spills the beans: Tesla was dropped because of safety concerns
Now we know who ended the relationship.
Nine years ago MobileEye, the company which provided the processors which Tesla vehicles used to understand the world around them, dumped them because โTesla was pushing the envelope in terms of safety." Muskโs recklessness and sociopathy writ large. arstechnica.com/cars/2016/09...

Sounds to me like an admission from the CDPP that their judgement is so poor that continuing in the role is untenable.

Having charged Richard Boyle for 66 offenses, tied up the courts for 6 years, spent $339,703 on external legal fees, chilled whistleblowing - with the Court refusing to convict - itโs mind-blowing the CDPP still thinks his prosecution was in the public interest. ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คฆโโ๏ธ #auspol

Careers in limbo after graduates discover university courses were never accredited
Students have been left with HECS debts and careers that are "non-existent" after completing degrees that were not accredited. Class actions have been launched against two Australian universities.
So AWS and NU are choosing to defend the indefensible (using public money), rather than admit to this error and fixing it? Seems to be something of an organisational reflex in Australia in the 2020s, and surely an indicator of leadership failure & ethical corruption. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10...

Itโs been a couple of years since I visited Melbourne and actually walked the city, but I was left with the distinct impression yesterday that the number of people living rough in central Melbourne has significantly increased. Are we really okay as a country with people unsupported like this?

"intractable systemic problems" is far too vague and polite.
Carbon offsets don't work because it's shit policy.
Put in place by governments who are in the pockets of big polluters and the fossil fuel lobby, and want to distract from taking real action on the #ClimateCrisis. #auspol

I would like to think so, but I also know that many senior police and intel officers reflexively see right wing commentary sympathetically, even if itโs violent. Note the absence of public response to VicPol members flashing โwhite powerโ hand signs at marching Nazis last year.

I am very curious to hear when normal tourist and business visa holders start to get denied entry to the U.S. because of their online views. So far itโs sporadic and seems mostly limited to student visas and work schemes. But that will change.

I observe some โconservativeโ politicians have attended and received qualifications from supposedly credible organizations. If I were those organizations, I would be assessing how and publicising changes to ensure their own integrity. The Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford especially.

Treating them as mentally ill is risky for the officers engaging with them. They should be treated as possible terrorists, presumed armed, and tracked by ASIO and state police as threats.

Well said. I doubt any board wants her, and honestly, I wouldnโt deal with any company who choose Reynolds for their board.
It has been amusing to see how few of the Morrison rump have found the gainful employment they think they deserve. Business knows what they are.

Even amongst conservatives, Reynolds is doing herself no favours here. The exception is the Sky News scum, but anyone listening to the opinions of literal Nazis probably needs to have a long, hard think about what theyโre doing.

And for those too young to remember, yes, until the 80s and maybe even into the 90s most K-Marts had an in-store restaurant. Sometimes they were even quite good, at least by the standards of the time.

Just a historical note: K-Mart in Australia used to sell guns and ammunition. My local store in the 70s was North Rocks in Sydney, and they had quite a range in the โsportsโ section at the rear next to the restaurant. It wasnโt noticeably different from a contemporary Walmart in the U.S., actually.

I am curious when CISAโs Secure by Design process is going to suggest to end users that they need to engage with vendors professionally? Donโt report your own misconfigurations as โvulnerabilitiesโ, and do the basic due diligence around providing sufficient information (like product and version?)

Itโs something of a shame to the U.S. military that he actually wasnโt thrown out while serving. Not that the ADF has shown itself good at doing the same, as was clearly shown in the BRS trial and reports of troop behaviour in Afghanistan.

'They Need to Suffer': Inside Trump's War on Dissent
Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and the rest of the administration are waging a furious crackdown on dissent following Charlie Kirk's assassination.
"it is now the default position of the Trump government that any speech he and his minions do not appreciate can be classified as 'pro-terrorism,' or material support for it."
