"It is an irreplaceable show, with a dedicated audience, an unmatched cultural impact and a team that nurtures talent and stories with a rare sensibility and care."

All good things must come to an end – but this seems wrong. A brilliant repository of strange, funny, beautiful, arcane stories, Short Cuts has always been truly inventive, a place for audio experimentation and new voices (a rarity on R4) and an absolute balm for listeners. I hope it finds a home.

This is absolutely heartbreaking news. I — like so, so many producers — would not have my start in audio without Short Cuts. It's a rare gem and the perfect home for documentaries, essays, experimentation and audio art. Shows like Short Cuts should be celebrated and protected.
