I mean, the number of houses won't go down if landlords exit. Nor will the development of new homes, which is not limited by price but other factors. It's those other factors that are the critical issue here. There is no free market in housing in the way that there is in, say, fridges.

It won't reduce the supply of houses. Of course if there's less rent to be extracted then people will exit the rental market. That will push house prices down (and therefore rent profits back up), and it's also possible for councils to enter to fill the need for cheap rentals to house people.

I think that's what's required for consciousness. But do you require consciousness for human intelligence? They argue "We do not deny intelligence to humans with profound amnesia" but I think such people do actually lack a core part of human intelligence.

It's bait and switch. Of course you find clusters of individuals based on gene frequencies, and if you look you can find ones that align in some way with some ethnicities (mostly they don't). But individuals themselves always vary and cannot be assigned uniquely to a singe genetic cluster.
