#HRC60 side event recap: Three years on, #China has ignored the recommendations from the 2022 #UN experts' report on #Uyghur rights abuses. No lawyer access. No end to arbitrary detention. No accountability. — @rizwangvl.bsky.social

China’s intimidation of an Irish citizen in Dublin: ‘I wanted to escape. It’s scary’
One Irish citizen living in Dublin receives regular calls from the police in China and believes she is being monitored
Finally, a story about Irish citizen Nuria Zyden, who fled from Xinjiang in 2009 and continues to be harassed by Chinese police up until today. This story will surely accelerate that harassment, so she's brave for doing this.
Again, tons of research about this being part of a broader pattern.

This is an absolute travesty as these men now almost certainly be subject to recriminations and human rights abuse (and possibly worse).

Economic relationships with China should NOT come before human rights 🪧
Irish Uyghurs demonstrated outside China’s MFA Wang Yi meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Tánaiste Simon Harris, asking the Irish government to raise the human rights abuses suffered by the Uyghur community.

Offering support to colleagues in East Asian Studies at @sheffielduni.bsky.social who are facing severe cutbacks. Sheffield has been a vital nexus of knowledge production and exchange in Asian studies. It would be a huge loss if these cuts were taken on board.
