If it's anything like the council procurement they will need to grade them.

I'm very tempted to buy a bra from M&S, and kick up a hell of a stink when a cis woman offers to help.

As a developer, I use AI every day in my job, and you're 100% correct, I would not (and don't) trust this to give an accurate representation of the consultation.

It's great for a quick overview, it's good for turning audio to text (thro you should still check that (see the captions on my videos)

Which is a fair disclamer from them.

But the EHRC won't do so.

They have outsourced it (we have literally just discovered this) to a company called SurveyMind.

They're not that expensive on a pay-as-you-go basis. I'm looking for a tool that's easier than 11Labs to transcribe parliamentary meetings.

LOL, they may have indirectly won a customer

A comment from myself on Survey Minds Linked In post, asking

Hi, this looks very interesting. Can you confirm what model you are using to categorise? Is it an off-the-shelf model or a custom-written one?

And how do you validate it? Do you sample and manually test? If so, what kind of sample size would you need for say 50K responses?

So of course

I knew there was a reason I had a LinkedIn account

text reads

We loved working with Critical Research on a recent Public Sector Consultation.

James Hopkins, Research Director at Critical, said:

"The SurveyMind team strengthened our analysis from the outset. Having them onboard meant we were never daunted by the volume and depth of responses the survey generated, plus it meant each response was reviewed and contributed to the final results however long (or short).

As well as fully understanding the AI tech, SurveyMind are researchers too - which meant the AI frameworks could be adapted to match our analysis and reporting styles. We would recommend SurveyMind to anyone with large scale or complex open-ended data that needs AI to do the heavy-lifting, and humans to guide the final analysis."

If you are interested in understanding, how SurveyMind can accelerate consultation analysis, please get in touch.

Sorry to hear that. Social Media can force people into knee-jerk reactions.

Not that that excuses it of course (and yes I can be as bad)

Can we use artificial intelligence (AI) for our qualitative analysis?
YouTube video by Penn State CTSI Can we use artificial intelligence (AI) for our qualitative analysis?

Interesting recent ( Apr 2025) presentation questioning the use of AI in qualitative analysis.
Ans: Depends on what AI used, it's an emerging science, it needs to be more transparent and auditable, good for quick & dirty summary, still needs human oversight (so takes time).

'Humphrey' why did they choose a third party.

Ummm strange.

I would imagine it would fall under the commercial exemption, but still worth an ask

Also why are they not using the government's consultation model?

05.08.2025 09:10 — 👍 9    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Even so I would expect the procurement document to state the model used.

I don't know if they have outsourced the analysis (I strongly suspect that to be the case however), either way, yes they apparently don't understand what they are doing (I'll need my Trump "they don't know what the fuck their doing" sound effect this week)
