Yes. But we need more fine grained analysis. I would be interested to know who ‘bucks’ the trend. Outliers either end .. poor and good. Then we might also see differences in leadership/mgt. instead of a blanket it’s tough for the sector .. does the sector no favours. Let’s off poor management.

Rachel Reeves was right - now it's time to give her some credit She held her ground, rejected Treasury orthodoxy, and forced through a significant change

Rachel Reeves held her ground, rejected Treasury orthodoxy, and forced through a significant change to the fiscal rules on investment. She gets no credit for this, but she damn well deserves some

I was extremely fortunate to have benefitted from a Leverhulme ECR fellowship back in 2014-2017. It gave me the support to develop the research for my book and to take the next big step in my academic career. Forever grateful.

Why is money made from wealth taxed less than money made from work?

Reeves should align Capital Gains Tax with Income Tax — it’s fair, and it could raise £14bn a year.

A simple fix to a rigged system.

Certain parts of the media have always served the interests of power and money. But framing progressive taxation on the exploitative super rich as an unfair assault on benevolent “wealth creators” is literally propaganda.

Our news media seems incapable of even the most basic factchecking

YES energy for UK steelmakers is costly
NO it's not due to net-zero
YES it is due to GAS

Here's what UK media isn't telling you🧵

As the U.S. shifts into a volatile political landscape targeting critical thinking, I want to share an important reminder to the #booksky community:

The only way to preserve literature is by collecting physical copies.

I know, Kindle users, it sucks—but your digital copy can be deleted any time.

One public opinion mistake people make is assuming 'being tough on pensioner benefits' appeals to young people. It doesn't it appeals to young (and old) policy wonks. Most young people say i worry about my gran - and they're the most likely to say triple lock should be more generous.
