Godzilla Minus One β€” Takashi Yamazaki | In Review Online A new film review of Godzilla Minus One, directed by Takashi Yamazaki & released by TΓ΄hΓ΄ International, for film review site In Review Online.

On paper Godzilla Minus One might be the best Godzilla movie in nearly 70 years, but in practice it's something much less: a wet-dream of remilitarisation and a condemnation of the Japanese Empire only insofar as it failed to win the war. For In Review Online

The Curse β€” Nathan Fielder & Benny Safdie | In Review Online A new TV series review of The Curse, created by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, for film review site In Review Online.

The Curse is like a Safdie movie without momentum, leaving us only to stew slowly in the horrible atmosphere. But thorough a small accumulation of flinches the cutting reflection it casts starts to distort. Reviewed for In Review Online.

There's something about the close-ups, that were present before, but now add detail rather than emphasis. It's missing a certain blankness, a spacious clarity. That fact that Lulu has no mouth unless she's speaking is the key.

I've gotten to the point in Little Lulu where John Stanley no longer draws (or even pencils) the comics, and whilst his narrative construction is still top notch, it has lost some of its special spark.

I've been putting off watching the last season of How To with John Wilson because, as someone who feels most comfortable living life at a remove, it can be a little too painful. And the c***d episode revealed the trauma of living through that time I didn't even know I had.

the errand boy has, perhaps, jerry's most revealing moments. a both brilliant and deeply embarrassing movie; the patsy is like a more purposeful, self-depreciating variation on it.

Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973): That Long Black Cloud is Comin’ Down A lot of Westerns are about the end of an era, but few capture our current sense of decline like Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.

"A lot of Westerns are about the end of an era, but few capture our current sense of decline like PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID: a diffuse & indirect collapse where the line between ending & ended is blurred by the fact that no new era is on the horizon." - EsmΓ© Holden

In my debut for @bwdr.bsky.social (!!!) I wrote about Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, which, while many Westerns are about the end of an era, speaks specifically to our current sense of decline.
