Shocked to hear that IM Gavin Wall has passed away from a heart attack. He had only given a tough simul a few weeks ago at Richmond Junior Chess Club, which he, as an alumnus, and the children, all enjoyed immensely. Rest in Peace.

08/03/2025. Our U9 team qualified for the national final in 3rd, equal with Essex on 16 points from a possible 36 at the East Zonal at Moulsham Junior School (Chelmsford). The winner was Kent with 24½, with Barnet second on 23.

Congratulations to Kenneth Hobson who has been made an FM at 15, and Billy Fellowes, who, aged 13, is now a CM. Kenneth showed great form in Basel & Billy's great performance in Isle of Wight included draws against such strong opposition as Matthew Wadsworth and Jovanka Houska.
