Same here. I never know what the trashy Siberian elm next door will drop, though. I love watching the bamboo grove bend and sway without breaking. Such a good metaphor for what we’re going through these days.

All the snowcrete on the ground makes it easy to tally how much deadfall the wind is producing.

Buddhist monks on 2,300-mile Walk for Peace expected to pass through Alexandria Group of about 19 monks left Fort Worth in October, are expected to reach Washington, D.C., by Feb. 10; rolling road closures planned in Old Town and along Route 1

Rolling closures on Washington St before the noon event, then on Route 1 after? That would fit the info about rolling closures 9a-2p that I read at www.alexandriabrief.com/p/buddhist-m....

They could even scatter some sand on top of the towels for the full beach effect.

Shouldn't be hard. The parkway lands them right on Washington St, which takes them north to Cameron. Then after Christ Church, it's just a few blocks west on Cameron to Route 1, which will take them north to Arlington.

They're having an event at Christ Church noonish. Looks like the two blocks in each direction will be blocked off for that.

Important paper. Schools are high-risk environments for respiratory disease transmission MAINLY because classrooms are underventilated. This problem has a workable solution - it just needs political will. Air quality is as important as water quality for public health. MT @martinmckee.bsky.social

This is a fantastic graphic on the post-viral impact of COVID published in Cell. When people think of long COVID, they likely think of the last image.

Many don't know the virus can worsen pre-existing conditions & causes new ones (e.g. autoimmune disease, stroke)

This is one glaring reason why RFK Jr. and his MAHA posse is completely unserious about making America healthy - they ignore climate change & its impact on health

What’s the focus now that we’re in Day whatever (I’ve lost count) of Phase 4? Any effort to use bobcats (the mechanical kind) to clear some of the crosswalks that were buried by street plowing?

We have just a few inches uncovered on our panels, but it looks like we’re producing again today! Miniscule amounts, but it’s progress.

Talked to an #ArlingtonVA neighbor today who had this happen with her garage roof. What I learned is that there was a telltale rasping sound just before the slide gained velocity. Her case was fortunate, in that the slab didn't tumble off but paused, overhanging the roof. She knocked it down safely.
