It's not that hard. We don't have to let workers or students come here in the first place - as long as we are willing to bear the economic, tax and other costs of not doing so. But if we do let them in, we should treat them decently. And their children!

I fear we need a bit more realism about our dependency on the US - in particular in defence and intelligence. Very difficult in the short term to imagine us doing anything else but trying to keep in with them as best we can. And the longer term requires that realism before we can plan.
