That it often requires two incomes to make the ends meet exemplifies how far the American Dream has faded- how wickedly, despite increases in productivity, capital has re-triumphed over labor (this includes professional couples with relatively high incomes, including "1%," the <0.1% is the problem).

Fully agree with that statement. It's really unfortunate that while basic science generates virtually all innovation in pharmaceuticals the labs that create this knowledge don't get the benefit. The talent/time wasted writing grants is absurd. And it's a cooked system.

Its my opinion that federal funds should be continued these are great, cost effective, services. What I have issue with is CBP using taxpayer funds to solicit donations rather than fulfilling their core mission. What if police on their beat went door to door for donations? Wouldn't that be absurd?

School fundraisers are fantastic. It would be a problem if teachers weren't educating during the day to do fundraising. CBP subsidiaries could learn something from schools about how to appropriately solicit funds while not stopping providing the mandated services

Are you not reading what I'm saying? It's a fantastic organization. And I think it's very important. I donate to it. But I think the way they solicit funds is unethical because they are not fulfilling their mission during this period of time and that time is tax funded. that is a problem imho.

So if the corporation for public broadcasting and it's subsidiaries want to solicit funds they could do that off hours, not using the airwaves, without interrupting services and that could either be volunteer time or they could pay themselves for that time from donations. But they stop programming.

I think that's awful. But they aren't making GoFundMe instead of teaching during school hours. NPR stops providing news,entertainment, whatever which is its mission and why the corporation for public broadcasting was created by Govt to ask for money. I don't know of any other govt org that does this

What if 10% of the time public school teachers left the school to go door to door to ask for money. These would all be very bizarre. Yet NPR does this regularly

The corporation for public broadcasting I believe was created by Congress. These programs you refer to are supported by and have become increasingly dependent on government funding but were independent or local organizations. Yes I worry about how every cent is spent. We all should be.

Responses to policy discussion could have included: "unchecked accumulation of assets create market distortion and asset inflation that make it difficult or impossible for the next generation to acquire homes, lead to inflation which increases costs" etc etc. Whats the number? Name calling= weak.
