By last week, the U.S moved a trio of Arleigh-Burke-class destroyers, the USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham, and the USS Sampson to the southern Caribbean, off Venezuela

The day before, SOUTHCOM Commander Adm. Alvin Holsey made an unannounced visit to the USS Sampson.

What initially was announced as a small force to “address threats from Latin American drug cartels” has ballooned into a major U.S. deployment.

Puerto Rico now hosts a detachment of Navy P-8A Poseidons conducting surveillance and gathering intelligence across the Caribbean.

Upon arrival officers discovered a two-car accident involving a government vehicle. The driver of one vehicle was transported to a local hospital, conscious and breathing, by DC Fire and EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Early this morning, an Army Joint Light Tactical Vehicle was involved in an accident with a civilian car on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

D.C. Police confirm to me that the driver of one of the vehicles was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
