The ultimate irony of “enigmatic” is that there are a ton of people who have trouble explaining just what it means…but for the wrong reason.

New special interest unlocked. ✅

Having the sad realization that one day, they’ll publish my obit (assuming that’s still a thing), and it’s going to be 99% jokes about how loud I am and how much I talk.

But, you know, glad my parents think ADHD is overdiagnosed or something.

My poor MIL, wondering if it’s okay to get my kids books with a potty training/sharing toys “agenda”, is not ready for an impromptu essay on whether literature necessitates a POV to qualify as such.

Plus, I’m not ready to argue “trying to prove you don’t need a POV is itself a POV” with modernists.

Question: What’s the best way to apologize to your TBR pile?

I’m reading a book so good that it wouldn’t be fair to even attempt another one for at least a few days.

Is there a line y’all use? “It’s not you; it’s me”?

Sometimes I wished I’d gone to grad school so I could make someone read a paper on how Kesha’s music is the distillation of white girl exuberance (which is frankly one of our better traits) and thus perfectly appropriate for a millennial cannonballing straight into the second half of their 30s.

Update: Reached the “acceptance” stage of grief fairly quickly once I conceded that the symbolism doesn’t have to be subtle if you *want* the effect of hitting someone in the face with a sledgehammer (with the point).

Still not dropping my beef with Hemingway.

Question: What do you do when you get to the point in plotting that you’ve accidentally damned yourself to hell? Asking for a friend.

Finally started Babel. As someone whose first nickname was “Blabbermouth”, my reaction to the Babblers appellation was…loaded. And given how Kuang can play emotions like a Rubik’s cube, I can tell I’m in for it.

But damn, I forgot how magical it feels to read something and go, “Oh, not just me?”

My bold take is that the Hunger Games series is Cormac McCarthy if he’d had the guts to truly ponder the horrors of the modern media engine.
