We are pushing for:
ποΈ More homes near light rail in Downer and Watson
πΆ Better, sheltered paths between the Woden Interchange and the shops
π₯ Fast-tracking the Belconnen Transitway for the Northside Hospital
π Removing outdated density caps at the Acton Waterfront
...
A great public transport network is only as good as the city built around it. πποΈ
Over the past few months, PTCBR has made five new submissions to the ACT Government and developers to ensure transport and land use planning work together for a better Canberra.
...
10 years ago the ACT Government proposed Transport Canberra as a response to criticisms our public transport was expensive, inefficient, and wasn't attracting new passengers.
10 years on, has it been a success? We don't think so. What do you think?
"Weekday bus services will be cut in Canberra for two years as works on the Commonwealth Avenue bridge force a "cascading and unavoidable impact" on the network."
PTCBR is seeking an urgent briefing about what's planned, and how we can mitigate this.
It's slower. It costs more. It delivers fewer transport benefits for Canberrans.
Read PTCBR Deputy Chair Ryan Hemsley argue why it's time to bury the "Barton dogleg" route for light rail to Woden.
Your membership dues really make a difference to what PTCBR can achieve. Last year our member fees helped us put on more events, including our very successful ACT election forum. Get on board this year as we push to make light rail to Woden the best it can be.

The draft Environmental Impact Statement for Light Rail Stage 2B is here! ππ This is your opportunity to find out the details, see the vision for Light Rail to Woden and give your feedback. The website has docs, videos and a great interactive map!

In addition to Brisbane Metro's conspicuous absence, the article does give favourable reference to the TransLohr system in France - which a. isn't a Trackless Tram (it uses both rubber tires and a steel wheel on a rail), and b. has significant issues, and is regarded by experts as a cautionary tale!
02.07.2025 03:46 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0It's funny to see the trackless tram boosters oddly silent on Brisbane Metro the week it fully launches. That project costs $1.7b for 200m of tunnel, a few station upgrades and a fleet of vehicles. It's not a cheaper alternative!

They're also closing stop 2031 on Launceston St until further notice. Not quite sure why, and we're following up about it.
17.06.2025 08:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From this Thursday, there will be changes to how buses move in and out of Woden Temp Interchange. This is because of final works at the new interchange, due to open Dec 2025.

The indicative name for the stop is currently Woden Interchange.

10.05.2025 05:40 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Molonglo residents are seeing John Gorton Drive get busy and slow, and it's only going to get busier and slower. The only real solution is to upgrade the old bus jumps to full bus lanes. Sign the petition in the comments below if you agree! ππ

Map showing closures to Callam St, buses going around the long way to get to the interchange
More Woden changes, in one last big push until the new interchange opens in August 2025.
With closures to Callam St from May, buses will be going round the long way. @Transport_CBR advises we won't need further timetable changes, but PTCBR will be keeping an eye on things.
PTCBR is having a film night on 15 May! The Last Bus is the touching tale of a widower using his free local bus ticket to travel the length of Britain.

There is no excuse for a brand new government website not meeting basic accessibility standards in 2025.
The lack of care from Transport Canberra and NEC is simply appalling.

MyWay+ screenshot showing stop 8889 as still open.
Right now people are planning their journeys to the Lake and New Acton, thinking this bus stop is still operational. @Transport_CBR needs to urgently update MyWay+ and the journey planner to reflect that the bus stop is closed.

We're not thrilled with the sudden closure of the Regatta Point bus stop, which is the only realistic option for getting PT to/from New Acton and the Lake. We'll be speaking to the ACT Government about alternative options.
