I love history. Point me to the benevolent empire. What superpower kept a clean sheet? Everyone wants to pretend when they’re mad at us that we never did anything good ever. But there are no absolutes. We did and do bad - and worse now, I believe. But we also did some good.

We have a lot to be embarrassed about. I think we need to reflect on what kind of people, what kind of nation we want to be. And then purposefully go about doing what is necessary to be that way, to build that movement.
