The head looks off and the tail is far too clunky, but at least the translucent plastic gives him that glowing from within look that made his design so memorable.

Shin Godzilla is back in theaters so the rest of this week is Shin Week! Today’s Figure of the Day is the SH Monsterarts Shin Godzilla Night Combat version! Shin Godzilla is a ridiculously hard design to get right and this one is probably Bandais closest - which still isn’t great.

The headmaster gimmick is always fun but I feel like he could have had a lot more play value. He does have a base mode but really, who cares? His truck is sick tho.

Today’s TF Tuesday Figure of the Day is the Titan Returns Powemaster Optimus Prime! There was a time when I thought this guy was peak Optimus and was the centerpiece of my Prime shelf. These days, he’s fine.

Today’s Mini Monday Figures of the Day are the Mechs of Scythe: Expeditions!

This is it. I’ve crossed the rubicon. I am now the guy who paints the minis of his favorite board games. I’m immensely pleased how these turned out. Next up? Scythe itself!

His figure is typical Ultraman faire, but the armor sets give him a distinctive couple of looks. I like the way the Lunar set looks more but the Solar is the better set.

Today’s Figure of the Day is the SH Figuarts Ultraman Arc, Solar Armor and Lunar Armor sets! Arc was another good series, though a bit more younger focused than Blazar, its predecessor. It focused on themes of imagination and creativity, which ended up giving it some spectacular, if silly wins.

And fitting as Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann is an anime both random… and AWESOME.

The Revoltech line, named after its specialized joints - excelled at incredibly poseable figures able to replicate insane anime poses. My Gurren Lagann here is missing some of the extra parts but still has his drill that will pierce the heavens, and is the centerpiece of my Random Awesome Shelf.

“WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?” Today’s Figure of tha Day is the Revoltech Yamaguchi #50 Gurren Lagann! I got this guy around 15 years ago and it was one of my first forays into highly articulated figures.

It’s awkward, loose, and falls apart if you look at it funny. It shoulda been Bendy Wire. Other than that, this figure is a phenomenal counterpart to the Final Wars Goji.

Today’s Figure of the Day is the SH Monsterarts Monster X from Godzilla: Final Wars! There is one thing that keeps this from being one of my favorite figures: the tail.

This figure is a Masterpiece. He looks almost perfect, has full poseability and even some articulation in Shark Mode which is absolutely crazy. My only issue is that I wish he had a clear spark crystal like the original, but that’s the tinniest of things. This is most likely my TF of the Year!

He’s Megatrons #2, despite being a bumbling oaf who loves poetry, and not actually that bad a guy. His goofy design is Beast Wars leftovers but his og toy is a mess of ball joints and stiff parts. They gave him another shot in the Thrilling 30 line, but looking at it now, that figure was terrible.

For those who aren’t in the know, Sky-Byte is from the 2001 Anime Transformers: Robots in Disguise. RID is the forgotten stepchild of the TF cannon, not as controversial as Beast Machines, as impactful as Armada, or as beloved as Animated. But it’s certainly beloved me.

Today’s TF Tuesday Figure of the Day is the Transformers Age of the Primes Sky-Byte! I can’t believe this day has come.

And while I mostly like the design, his pose is a bit awkward. I also grabbed a Cthulhu shrine, and then little Lou I found randomly on a shelf in my closet - I think a friend must have gotten me it at some point.

Today’s Mini Monday Figures of the Day are the Reaper Bones, Cthulhu, Cthulhu Shrine, and Bonesylvanian’s Lou!

It’s no secret that I’m a Cthulhu stan so this was only a matter of time. Reaper had the biggest unpainted Cthulhu I could get for a reasonable price, so he was my go to.

Today’s figure of the day is the Hammond Collection The Lost World: Jurassic Park Stegosaurus! He looks real good but I wish he had more articulation. I’d love for him to be able to pose his tail more menacingly.

Today’s Figure of the Day is the Hiya Toys Exquisite Basic Skull Devil from Kong: Skull Island! Danger noodle here is great, and as Hiya is the only company giving love to the Monsterverse Originals, I’m super happy to have her in the collection.

He also comes with the body of Konshu, who is technically a Kaiju…. I may try and hunt the rest of him down. Maybe.

Today’s figure of the day is the Marvel Legenda What If Howard the Duck and Scott Langs Head in a Jar.

Sometimes I find a figure at Ollie’s that is just so silly and memeable that I just have to get it. This is one such figure.

I know this is a super minor thing, but his gun can’t even mount on his arm proper Megatron style. The good news is that DNA designs is doing an upgrade kit that should help immensely which I’ve preordered, but until then, well…

But after seeing crossovers like Party Wallop and Gigawatt, and heck even Tyrannocon and Dilophocon, this guy is just a big pile of meh. The redeco of Grimlock is actually very nice, the new Megatron head sculpt is good, and the Grimlock Toy itself is a fine figure. But it’s so half assed.

Today’s TF Tuesday Figure of the Day is (sigh) the Transformers X Godzilla Synergex Series Megatron Type Godzilla. Now, there was no way I wasn’t going to buy the official Godzilla Transformers Crossover toy, and 10 years ago I would have been ecstatic with this.

The minis always look fantastic and even better once fully painted. I’m pretty happy with the way the trees and dragon came out, it really does look like a full fledged slimy swamp, and I look forward to taunting some players with it in the future.

Today’s Mini Monday Figure of the Day is the Epic Encounters Local Legends Young Green Dragon! The Epic Encounters line has quickly become one of my favorite things. For the Local Legends subline, each box contains one large mini and a few smaller minis, alongside a map and an encounter booklet.

Today’s Figure of the Day is the Neca Godzilla 1984! This was the dark and gritty reboot before that was a thing. This film returned Godzilla to his serious roots. I’m not the biggest fan of the design though, but other fans champion it. I do love the fangs.
