it does not โ€œget confusedโ€, it does not โ€œmake mistakesโ€, it does not โ€œlieโ€

it is not conscious, it has no agency, it regurgitates text fitting the distribution it was trained on. and that distribution is being altered, fast.

As I said, they donโ€™t put it in proposals because itโ€™s so impopular. But they vote the most anti social laws in parliament all the time.

Oh no Macron definitely isnโ€™t smart enough to have meant this. Itโ€™s just more of his usual bullshit to appeal to people whoโ€™d like to see the trump experiment happen in France too.

11.11.2024 00:51 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

They do, and every vote they cast in parliament along with Macronโ€™s neoliberals proves it, but they donโ€™t dare advertise it in public yet because itโ€™s just so impopular

Oh so basically you donโ€™t understand the notion of consent! That makes more sense!

13.02.2024 13:03 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

But Iโ€™ll agree that itโ€™s unproductive to exchange with someone that acts in such bad faith. Ignoring half my replies doesnโ€™t make them disappear, and saying that a policy is unenforceable doesnโ€™t make it go away either.

I live in the EU, I think youโ€™ll find my online rights are very much backed by the GDPR.

13.02.2024 12:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Coming back to the comparison with open source code; when a code base thatโ€™s available on the internet doesnโ€™t have an explicit license, it is assumed itโ€™s All Rights Reserved. The same thing applies here. No explicit consent, no right to export my data.

13.02.2024 12:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I certainly do have a right to say what can be done with my data.

Collecting data from users without their consent is a practice of centralised networks and predatory corporations. I thought Bsky was supposed to be better than that, but oh well, looks like that didnโ€™t last

13.02.2024 12:36 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ah yes, thatโ€™s how licenses works. They only apply to content when you *donโ€™t* have access to it. Sure.

โ€œHi all!

13.02.2024 12:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Iโ€™ll say it again, having open data does not mean having a license to use it for anything.

13.02.2024 12:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The same thing applies to open source code, for instance. Itโ€™s open to access, anyone can read, modify it, download it for private use. But there are still licenses that regulate how you can use it, commercially or not, for private use or not.

13.02.2024 12:12 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Open protocols have terms of service. There are laws surrounding what you can and cannot do with public data. This argument is nonsensical.

13.02.2024 12:10 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You should not expect people to know about every dangerous project you conjure. Making it opt out is exposing people to an unwanted audience, which they explicitly chose to break from by being on the Fediverse.

13.02.2024 12:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

A Fedi/Bsky bridge that isnโ€™t opt-in is NOT โ€œusing ActivityPubโ€. Itโ€™s scraping data from ActivityPub and republishing it into a for-profit network with lower moderation standards.

Iโ€™m not wholly opposed to it, as long as it is OPT-IN.
