⭕️ Munich Security Conference | “Statehood is a right. It’s not a reward. It’s not ‘for terror.’ It’s not a carrot to be handed out. It is a right,” said Sigrid Kaag, former Dutch foreign minister and senior UN Gaza humanitarian aid coordinator, now an Executive Board member on Trump’s Gaza “Board of Peace.” She added: “If there’s any people that have been going through the same exam cycle to never be allowed to graduate, it is the Palestinians — highly qualified, subjected to many rounds of conflict and occupation, but never graduating.” Kaag said phase two of the ceasefire must be implemented without delay, and political will and leaders’ ability to pressure “friends” with “tough love” is the main reason why it is stalled. Kaag said that aid and dignity for Palestinians must “not be subject to any other party’s determination,” adding, she didn’t want to see just 10% of Palestinians in Gaza receiving shelter in the Green Zone. Calling the failure in Gaza “a stain on the international institutions,” she said, “We have to move from words to action,” and that Palestinians must be “in the driving seat” of their future.

🇬🇧 “The world has to start listening,” declared UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper at the Munich Security Conference, as Sudan spirals deeper into humanitarian catastrophe. When asked whether the UK was using any of its leverage with close ally the UAE to halt widely reported support for the Rapid Support Forces — accused of genocide and mass ethnic cleansing massacres in Darfur — she refused to single the country out. The UK, like the US, has consistently avoided publicly blaming the UAE, including after the October 2025 massacre in El-Fasher, when, according to the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab, up to 100,000 residents were reportedly killed in a matter of weeks. Earlier, Cooper also dismissed reports that the UAE had used British-made weaponry to arm Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as “unfounded.” She then criticized a "collective global failure" to protect civilians in Sudan and highlighted the UK's pledge of £20 million to support survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.

🇱🇧 LEBANON | February 14, 2026 Israeli warplanes carried out a broad wave of strikes across South Lebanon on Saturday, hitting hilltop and rural areas in the Jezzine district and Nabatieh governorate, near the Israeli border. Targets included Basalya and Mlikh in the Jezzine highlands, al-Raihan and Jabbour Heights, and Sojod in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region, a mountainous area overlooking much of southern Lebanon. Strikes also hit Wadi Burghuz in Hasbaya and areas between Houmin and Deir al-Zahrani in Nabatieh, according to Al Mayadeen. Near the border town of Mays al-Jabal, an Israeli drone dropped explosives on a residential home. On February 12, a drone strike on a vehicle in al-Teeri in the Bint Jbeil district killed one person, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said. Israeli forces also entered Kfar Kila and Odaisseh, both frontline border villages, demolishing homes. The escalation comes despite the November 27, 2024 cessation of hostilities and U.N. Resolution 1701, which was meant to prevent renewed fighting in southern Lebanon.

Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani THREAD: The latest campaign to defame the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Occupied Since 1967, Francesca Albanese ( @FranceskAlbs ), consists of a series of inter-connected scandals. 9:10 PM · Feb 14, 2026 · 34.1K Views Relevant View quotes Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h The first is that this campaign is based on an act of pre-meditated fraud. The offending video clip, which formed the basis for the resulting firestorm, was knowingly doctored to make it appear that Albanese made a statement she did not in fact make. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h The second is that a number of European governments immediately responded to this fabrication with demands for Albanese’s head. In their rush to judgement, they refused to engage in the elementary precaution of reviewing the evidence, and thus of determining the integrity, or in this case the lack thereof, of the accusations levelled against Albanese. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h This is because when it comes to defending Israeli impunity and amplifying smears produced by its flunkies to consolidate this impunity, these governments consistently operate in an evidence-free world. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h The third is that the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, ever the loyal servant of Western power, gratuitously threw Albanese under the bus. Whether or not the accusations directed at Albanese had any merit was viewed as fundamentally irrelevant. That several powerful European states and of course the US have demanded Albanese’s ouster was enough for him to order his spokesperson to announce that “we don’t agree with much of what she says”.
Craig Mokhiber ( @CraigMokhiber ) quite correctly characterised this and subsequent statements as the “Pontius Pilate response”. Fortunately, Guterres can do little more than parrot his masters, since the UN Secretary-General does not have the authority to remove special rapporteurs appointed by the Human Rights Council. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h More scandalous than all of the above is that the source of the doctored video used to smear Albanese, UN Watch, continues to be taken in any way seriously, by anybody. UN Watch has a single-minded obsession with preserving Israeli impunity and defending each and every one of its numerous crimes. It is equally devoted to defaming, vilifying, and sanctioning anyone and anything within the UN system that gets in the way. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h Over the years, Albanese and every one of her predecessors have been a particular focus of this propaganda group, which has also repeatedly called for the post to be abolished. As far as UN Watch is concerned, Palestinian rights do not exist and should never be on the UN’s agenda.
UN Watch and its supreme leader, Hillel Neuer, in fact specialise in disinformation and fabrication. Yet Western politicians and parliaments consistently dance to its tune, hang on to every word it publishes, and live in terror of contradicting it. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h More than anything else, this reflects a shared commitment to Israeli impunity and, as amply demonstrated during the Gaza Genocide, a willingness to safeguard this by hook or by crook. If UN Watch sought to defend the government of Myanmar or Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces with the same methods it deploys to support Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime, it would have long ago sunk into permanent obscurity, and those who treat its pronouncements with the utmost seriousness and reverence would be too ashamed to admit they had ever heard of UN Watch or Hillel Neuer. Mouin Rabbani @MouinRabbani · 17h But the biggest, over-arching scandal in this sordid affair was identified by Albanese @FranceskAlbs herself. In her words: “Three European governments accuse me - based on statements I never made -with a virulence and conviction that they have NEVER used against those who have slaughtered 20,000+ children in 858 days.”

In a Feb. 11 statement, MSF described a “pattern of unacceptable acts,” including armed presence inside the facility, intimidation, arbitrary arrests of patients, and a recent suspected movement of weapons. It warned the incidents pose serious risks to staff and patients and undermine the hospital’s neutrality. Hospital staff have said Nasser has faced repeated incursions by masked gunmen and armed groups in recent months, even with Gaza’s civil police stationed nearby. Multiple armed factions have emerged during the war, including groups armed and backed by Israel. While the half dozen or so groups are based in areas under Israeli control, they have carried out assassinations and other armed operations, including with Israeli support, west of the yellow line. MSF said it will continue critical trauma and surgical care but is ending support for pediatrics, maternity and neonatal intensive care, as well as all burn screening and mental health services. Hospital administration on Saturday rejected MSF’s claims as “false, unsubstantiated, and misleading,” stating the facility remains civilian only and weapon-free, and warning that such allegations could endanger a protected medical site. Israel has destroyed or damaged all 36 of Gaza’s hospitals during the 28-month genocidal war.

El Necio @ElNecio_Cuba Translated from Spanish STATEMENT #1 ✍️ According to Miami media outlets, the US is imposing a sanction on me for practicing journalism. I am an ordinary young Cuban. Five years ago, I began doing my work through social media and collaborating with press outlets. I have no employment ties whatsoever to the Cuban government: currently, I do not work in press media or state institutions. In their report, they refer to my latest journalistic investigation as "harassment," in which I demonstrate the purchase of fuel (gasoline) by US diplomats in Havana: the very same fuel that they block from Cuba, only to consume it themselves afterward. The sanction is irrelevant to me. I have never had, nor have I ever requested, a visa to enter the US. It has never even crossed my mind to visit that country, with so much beauty in Latin America and so much humanism in the neighborhoods of my own country. But we do need to denounce this serious violation of press freedom. Because this is not a personal attack, but a precedent for censorship and coercion against every young Cuban who speaks out against the blockade on Cuba or who practices journalism that does not please the Trump administration. It is a clear attack on the practice of free and independent journalism that I carry out, guided by ethical principles, with source triangulation and verifications. My work is to spread the truth, not to please the power that sanctions me.
From José Martí, I learned that "journalism is a sword, and its hilt is reason. Only the good should wield it, and it should not be for the extermination of men, but for the necessary triumph over those who oppose freedom and progress." Here I will remain, in Cuba, telling the truth of my circumstances, the harshness of these trying times, making the necessary critiques, and fighting for a better world. ✍️ Pedro Jorge Velázquez, Havana, February 14, 2026
