I am a professional astronomer doing research on young stars. I have a lifelong interest in nature and I believe it does best when humans leave it alone.

Though I don't see as much detail as can be seen in images, I find the act of sketching what I see at the eyepiece to be very satisfying. I find I concentrate on teasing out detail. I had it confirmed that the white areas on the limb are clouds and haze.

22.01.2025 09:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Mars is starting to clear my neighbours tree early enough that I can stay up to observe it. Here is a drawing I made last night, using my 250mm Mewlon reflecting telescope. These markings were clearly visible, with some fleeting hints at more detail. The large triangular feature is Syrtis Major.
