Obviously this is not a serious foreign policy and it is deeply disappointing once again from Labour and the UK. Recognition should be about Palestine, not about punishing, or rewarding, Israel.

There are reports that want France and UK delaying recognition until PA is reformed so Israel can't say recognition rewards Hamas. But recognition of a state is not the same with recognition of its governments.

Quick reaction to UK's Foreign Sec suggestion that recognition of Palestine won't affect things on the ground:

Hard to argue it will make them worse. It will afirm Palestinian right to sovereignty (and therefore highlight Israel's many ways of infringing it), + might also lead to more recognitions.

Finally got round reading these excellent Kosovo 2.0 series of articles on 90s Kosovo.

The piece by Besnik Pula is particularly interesting for Kosovo's statehood efforts before the 2008 declaration of independence.
