This can give people a sense of relief as we move from a stressful situation to a safe one. Maybe it's something like a dopamine hit and con men use that response toward their advantage to cultivate pliant behavior in people so they can avoid emotionally stressful states. Trump does this often.

are kind of hard wired to avoid confrontation. As they learn to practice their shameless lies I think con men learn when to emotionally bully people to pressure them towards avoiding conflict while switching contexts very quickly from a momentary perceived threat to that of a friend.

Aside from the pure idiocy of it they all started laughing because the names he listed were all composers he would have said were a corrupting influence back in their day. He would have called many of them dipsomaniacs or something.

Years ago there was an article written in a local reactionary newspaper about a pastor holding a CD burning to rid his church's youth group of their vile rock n roll and rap music. He wanted them to listen to classical music and listed names.

I read the article with a bunch of classical musicians.

It's just one of those things that is true to them because that's the way they've always believed it to be true which would be fine if they changed their stance after learning some history but that doesn't happen.

That's one of those perceptions conservatives have been very successful in distorting. I'm sick of hearing some MAGA claim the min wage wasn't created for adults to live above the poverty line but was created for teens entering the job market.

WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

Title 52, United States Code, Section 20701 requires election officers to retain election records for 22 months following an election for a federal office. The statute’s retention requirement applies to “all records and papers which come into his possession relating to any … act requisite to voting in such election.” Violation of this statute is a misdemeanor.

Any officer of election or custodian who willfully fails to comply with this section shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

Just noticing that the Fulton Co election records search warrant affidavit entirely omits the mental state (“willfully”) required to commit the 1st of the 2 crimes cited. The FBI agent makes it sound like a strict liability crime, which it's not. (Sorry if this has already been widely reported.)
