Lutnick could probably move from crying to yelling to laughing in the span of 20 seconds. None of it with sincerity. All of it to bully a response.

This can give people a sense of relief as we move from a stressful situation to a safe one. Maybe it's something like a dopamine hit and con men use that response toward their advantage to cultivate pliant behavior in people so they can avoid emotionally stressful states. Trump does this often.

are kind of hard wired to avoid confrontation. As they learn to practice their shameless lies I think con men learn when to emotionally bully people to pressure them towards avoiding conflict while switching contexts very quickly from a momentary perceived threat to that of a friend.

I have this theory about con men. I don't think most are that smart or even that good at lying. I think they just operate in a way that's so shameless that people can have a hard time recognizing it as it's such an outlier for social behavior. I also think they take advantage of how most people

I think you give him too much credit.

That's one practiced liar. He's not a good actor. He kind tries to double down but can't emote it. He would try if he thought it would help. He's shameless. He doesn't even care about the abrupt emotional context shift.

They're anti-democracy, anti-science, anti-human rights, they're against open good faith discourse. They don't care for history and don't aspire to intelligence. They just believe they should be able to domineer others as if it's they're birthright.

They certainly would. They don't really care for art or music, history, culture, none of it. It's just a political euphemism to veil their bigotry.

It's also funny just how much these reactionary culture warriors who claim to be defending Western Civilization seem to hate the Enlightenment.

This western civilization chauvinism always comes out of the mouths of assholes who don't know history or don't appreciate it. I doubt they have any real love for art or music anyways.

Anyhow, here is Keith Richards showing his love for Robert Johnson.

We'd read the newspaper for fun at a diner.

Aside from the pure idiocy of it they all started laughing because the names he listed were all composers he would have said were a corrupting influence back in their day. He would have called many of them dipsomaniacs or something.

Years ago there was an article written in a local reactionary newspaper about a pastor holding a CD burning to rid his church's youth group of their vile rock n roll and rap music. He wanted them to listen to classical music and listed names.

I read the article with a bunch of classical musicians.

It's just one of those things that is true to them because that's the way they've always believed it to be true which would be fine if they changed their stance after learning some history but that doesn't happen.

As you point out, FDR was concerned about a living wage not a starvation wage.

That's one of those perceptions conservatives have been very successful in distorting. I'm sick of hearing some MAGA claim the min wage wasn't created for adults to live above the poverty line but was created for teens entering the job market.

I'd be surprised if he even had an ATM card or cash or keys.

This would be a good question to members of Congress. Ask them to show their ID or ask them what kind of ID they have on them. Most likely won't qualify as an EDL real ID and wouldn't permit them access to vote.

BREAKING: ICE director Todd LYONS says the two officers involved in the Jan. 14 chase/ shooting incident appear to have lied under oath and are being investigated by DOJ. This comes after DHS Secretary Kristi Noem defended them as firing in self-defense. politico.com/news/

Attributable to Todd Lyons:
Today, a joint review by ICE and the Department of Justice (DO) of video evidence has revealed that sworn testimony provided by two separate officers appears to have made untruthful statements.
Both officers have been immediately placed on administrative leave pending the completion of a thorough internal investigation.
Lying under oath is a serious federal offense. The U.S. Attorney's Office is actively investigating these false statements.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, the officers may face termination of employment, as well as potential criminal prosecution.
The men and women of ICE are entrusted with upholding the rule of law and are held to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct. Violations of this sacred sworn oath will not be tolerated.
ICE remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and the fair enforcement of our nation's immigration laws.

WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

Will DHS retract the prior claims?

I really hate the hyperarticulation or elongation of vowels Trump uses to try and sound cutesy with his audience. His speech is meant to infantilize. He'll even twirl a little bit and swing his hand like he's a child actor from a 1930s film. He baby talks to his audience.

Parloff wrote about this showing that 20701 isnt a strict liability crime. IANAL but I don't think reckless disregard qualifies either. Again IANAL but the statute of limitations may have expired but that depends upon a determination of the accrual date, Nov 2020 - Sept 2022

Would they start accruing from November 2020 or September 2022? If it's the latter that would mean they expire in September 2027.

Just noticing that the Fulton Co election records search warrant affidavit entirely omits the mental state (β€œwillfully”) required to commit the 1st of the 2 crimes cited. The FBI agent makes it sound like a strict liability crime, which it's not. (Sorry if this has already been widely reported.)

When the Homeland Security twitter account signals they want 100 million deportations they're not joking. They'd have to deport citizens to reach that number and MAGA would be happy to do so. It's disgusting. MAGA would do away with human rights, with democracy, do away with the Enlightenment itself

Another shooting case falls apart (this time ICE, not CBP).

These are the Venezuelans that ICE excused shooting by claiming they beat him w/shovels.
