I'm sure it was cited in the discussion, but Israeli scholar Maya Wind has an excellent chapter on Archaeology in her "Towers of Ivory and Steel" (2024) that is really worth reading. Particularly recommended to senior olleagues who have decided to write emails before studying and thinking.

Quite apart from the ridiculously offensive paternalism of these people who seem to think they are personally in control of my own academic freedom, this is the worst aspect of that list.

The past is political. If it were not there would be no reason for any of us to care about it at all.

But Vittorio Saldutti published two chapters on these topics: "Gramsci «postcoloniale» e gli studi sulla colonizzazione greca" and "Categorie gramsciane negli studi sulla Magna Grecia da Ettore Lepore alla postcolonial theory"

Thank you! Loads of work still to do on the topic, but it was a good first step to bring together different traditions and receptions of Gramsci's categories.

Today, as Gramsci Research Network, we run a roundtable titled "Postcolonial Gramsci(s?) in transhistorical perspective" at the Biennial Conference of the Society for Italian Studies at Royal Holloway, with contribution by S. Agbamu, S. Kroonenberg, M. Puddu, V. Saldutti ->

(apologies for the very long answer but I'm trying to make sure that my position comes across clearly and cannot be interpreted as an antisemite position)

In this sense, I think safety for Jewish people and freedom for Palestinian people are two faces of the same coin. The left must take seriously the danger posed by resurgence of antisemitism, but also try to offer a way to peace that don't go through bombing an entire civilian population.
