What if we had a climate lens or some environmental metrics that we could integrate into our existing QI projects? ( to decrease antibiotic use in the NICU, ETT cultures in the PICU, IV to PO conversion, etc). This will be largely applicable to all ID & we hope to see you there!

However our prior hospital wide collaborative leadership work in infection prevention control and antimicrobial stewardship shows that we can partner with other specialties to lead hospital sustainability councils as well and help mitigate healthcare related harm from our practices.

Currently few Peds ID providers are involved in their hospital sustainability council work.

Attached are some powerful anecdotes on climate change and air pollution from peds ID providers that show a glimpse of how disease patterns are changing and geographic boundaries are expanding.
