Lights do more than the camera. If you have good lighting setup, you can get away with using just good webcams (logitech c920) instead of a high end camcorders. Sound is much more essential than video because it is the most likely point of failure, but I'm still looking for the optimal setup myself.

Yes. But for the economic model to propagate outside that took time. Open source licensing as an exploitable ecosystem is not something that has always been there.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.
I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Looking deeper into Obsidian because of my "let's use Obsidian as a RAG source" project... and I just created a new Vault for my daily tasks and project management. And installed quite a lot of plugins to make it shiny.

The "Indie" scene isn't dead, but it is being reorganized. We've moved from a Scene to a Market, and the independent designer is increasingly becoming a Sharecropper for the massive "AA" ecosystems like Mörk Borg or Shadowdark. 🧵

The driver isn't just aesthetics—it's code. A garage creator can layout a PDF, but they can't afford to code complex automation for VTTs. The "weirdness" of the indie scene is ironed out because weird mechanics are hard to code. The future of the industry is shaped by what runs smoothly on a screen.
