Can anyone recommend an optician in Cardiff (ideally fairly central, ideally independent)? One of the lenses of my glasses popped out, and, well, I don’t just wear them for aesthetics, so would like to have them repaired ASAP. #CardiffOptician

And the sugar that comes in so many of these fancy drinks… Oopsie!

I do think coffee shop profits will be up as a result of the state of the world leading to so many of us buying fancier drinks more often than usual.

Sometimes people don’t add alt text because they’re afraid of doing an imperfect job, but even a basic description of the photo is better than nothing. It only takes a minute!

Ironic, perhaps, that I chose to write this in English, but I want my fellow learners to know that these moments will happen.

I hit two major Welsh language milestones this week. First, I attended conference sessions in Welsh and didn’t even think of using the interpretation headset. Second, when I asked a question in Welsh at a panel. my words were interpreted into English. As a language nerd, I am excited about that!

My head is whirling with ideas after two conferences in one week! I thoroughly enjoyed the @lswalescddcymru.bsky.social ECR Colloquium at Cardiff Met yesterday and today. (And I didn’t expect to speak French at a conference in Wales, mais voilà.) Thanks to the organisers for a great experience!

In honour of being able to hear Ottawan Alanis Morissette from my flat, despite not being willing to shell out £75 for a ticket, let me share with you all that my favourite song of hers is “Head Over Feet,” simply because it contains a rather good zeugma, my favourite figure of speech. #NowYouKnow

And here’s a shot of the library, for good measure, because I will never get tired of looking at that building and all the treasures it holds.

Am gynhadledd dda! I had a great time at the very well-organised @wiserd-research.bsky.social conference in Aberystwyth, and even snuck in a visit to the @librarywales.bsky.social over the weekend. I particularly appreciate the efforts made to support PhD students and ECRs… Diolch yn fawr iawn!
