Trying again to understand how Bluesky works with reposts. If one of my friends reposts something and I comment, that comment goes under the *original* post, right — usually with thousands of others? And my friend likely won’t even see it unless I tag them?

Hmm potentially helpful. But I’m striving for building community and relationships. Me being one of thousands who comments on something Heather Cox Richardson or Jim Acosta says on their post is different from me making that comment directly under your repost along with others who follow you.

But it doesn’t put me in conversation with my friend who reposted (and their friends)

@thosesocks.bsky.social it’s not so much about privacy. I know my comment is public. But if you repost something, I’d like to comment in a way that makes it a conversation among your friends here, not me just adding to thousands of other comments. Does that make sense?

How do I make Bluesky a conversation space with people I want to engage with? Say a friend reposts an interesting post from a thought leader. I’d like to comment but there are thousands of comments. Is there a way to comment so my friend and their friends see it? Not just in there with the 1000’s?

I am not finding it a replacement for FB. I like that there are no ads and I’m following some interesting people, but I find it hard to have/follow conversations.

I have sympathy for this family with respect to the rescinded job offer. That’s terrible. And, at the collective level, this kind of pain many times over may be a critical part of what’s needed for the reality to set in that people sold their souls for the price of eggs.

I was thinking it feels like a virtual group rage room. (Those places where people can go and smash stuff) Catharsis. The value of doing it together cannot be overstated.
