it's better to have a book because they are labeled with things like sex, age, time of year, etc. but the online resource is still great. the eastern book has really saved me a couple of times between two or more very similar looking species in the Sibley guide

also just 9/10 people only don't want to see things like taxidermy, snakes, bugs, etc. bc they make them uncomfortable, not because they're truly triggering to them, and I think if you're made uncomfortable by the natural world you should make a point to work on that. sorry for being a shitty uncle

always feel conflicted tagging my taxidermy photos bc it is so clinical that I think if you have actual trauma involving dead birds that it's a really gentle way to test those waters—a friend of mine had such impactful trauma involving dead animals that he would immediately panic if he saw roadkill—
