It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

War is not the answer in Somalia.

War is not the answer in Venezuela.

War is not the answer at home in our streets.

War is not the answer, period.

My plan to revive American manufacturing is to: raise the price of inputs like steel, aluminum & copper; create shortages of rare earths; generate less electricity; invite retaliatory tariffs; cut R&D; raise borrowing costs by blowing out the budget; and to cover it all in a cloud of uncertainty.

This is also, obviously, self sustaining for a time. Take over an institution you have no respect for, make it so it doesn’t work well for anyone, increase distrust in that institution, blame your enemies for the degradation, score political points, watch as it is fully dismantled. Rinse, repeat.
