It depends entirely on how the the IR light (which is emitted from the doorbell) reflects due to angle

I don't think the front porch boogieman is using a flashlight. I know it looks like that, but IR video reflects off things and can create that illusion. I think it's reflecting off a cap on a tooth, or maybe even just really white teeth. He has no flashlight in any other frames in the video.

Chinese vessel here clearly in the wrong. When you're in another country's EEZ the coastal state has the authority to board and inspect. Noncompliance will get you into trouble you don't want. But this isn't going to help any with winning the hearts and minds of Chinese citizens.

They've already been deployed 8 months. They're going to do two more ocean crossings and a campaign in between. They'll be out more than a year.

If you're going to get stuck in a long deployment, the Ford is one of the few ships you'd want to be on. They have some of the best food in the Navy, recreation areas (incl video games) and I think there's a dog onboard for pets too. But they'll end up doing a year at sea, even on Ford that's a lot.

As stated in the referenced article, the Ford's crew has been deployed for 8-months. Before crossing the pond again they should bring it home and at least rotate the ship's Company (perhaps not the air wing, as that would take much longer). Those sailors are going to be driven into madness.
