I’ve seen what happens overseas when people stop trusting those with guns and uniforms. You get unrest, insurgency, and extreme violence. That’s not stability — it’s chaos. Our job is to keep that chaos outside of American soil, not to create it at home.

Worse, it politicizes the force. Our oath is to the Constitution and to each other, not to a man. Using the military to “fix” cities is a partisan stunt, and it fractures the bond between service members and the people we serve. The people we need to support us and our mission.

Troops aren’t trained cops. ROE, de-escalation, evidence handling — all different skill sets. Send soldiers to do policing, and tragedy is inevitable.

There’s a law for this: Posse Comitatus. It keeps federal troops from acting as police. For good reason. Break that wall, and you’re sliding into martial law by another name.

In combat, at least we had defined missions & hostile actors. Here at home? Who’s the “enemy”? Protesters? Civilians? Our own families? Whole neighborhoods? That’s how you tear down trust between Americans and their military.

Training doesn’t happen on live populations. We built mock villages, ran scenarios, practiced rules of engagement. Using real U.S. neighborhoods as “training” is not training — it’s intimidation.

I served as a Combat/Special-Operations Weather guy (SOWT/CWT), deployed all over the globe with Green Berets, 3 tours in Afghanistan alone. When I hear a POTUS say “use American cities as training grounds” for troops, I know what that really means: turning soldiers into police. That’s a red line.
