It may well have been, not sure where I got bread oven inside from… it looks like it’s been taken down a lot since my visit twenty odd years ago… I’ll have to dig out the photos!

A long time ago, on weekend off from a warehouse job I had in Nantes, I took an extra day off and searched out may of these. They really are amazingly huge. Did you find the one with a bread oven inside? Can’t remember the name now… I must go back!

When I started primary teaching (before they got a bit more strict about it). I would change into trainers and put an old trackie top from, perhaps, the 70s over my shirt and tie. Apparently that’s not sportswear.

We went to Worsthorne Stone Circle. The weather was bleak and there’s not much to actually see there on the ground. There was a cremation excavated there in the 1880’s so it is legit.
Saw our first snowdrops of spring on the walk back to the van…

Just realised there are nearly a thousand people following me on here. Thank you. Here I am despairing at the mess I’ve made in the ‘music room’…
If you follow me, you might get to hear what it sounds like.

On a childhood holiday, we saw Richard Kiel (of Jaws in James Bond fame) on a ferry from Ramsgate to Dunkirk.
He was in a part of the ship with a particularly low ceiling and had to duck a bit.

It’s mainly around Beeley in Derbyshire; the pub, Hob Hursts House (although the Church is actually in Castleton)

As a total non-gamer I loved this (to the extent that I went on a field trip to find the real world locations it was based on!)

First few minutes of the new Stranger Things season. It seems to have a proper surround mix. Which I appreciate.

Watching One Hand Clapping, the Wings thing. Do I remember it being a thing to criticise Linda for playing a keyboard with one finger? Because she’s playing a lot of minimoog on this, which is monophonic and cannot really be played with more than one finger (at a time).

Sadly, plenty of schools will ignore the current news and leave them up on the shelves alongside Rowling and Gaiman. (I’m still not sure if Roald Dahl should be there but at least he could write.)

In the ten years I spent as a primary school class teacher, I always refused to have that awful man’s shit books in my classroom.

Jack Hargreaves - Out of Town - original theme music
YouTube video by Ade Fegan Jack Hargreaves - Out of Town - original theme music

(And not having to deal with the paperwork side of things) we can be more romantic about it.
I did realise, after I made the album, that I’d been subconsciously inspired by the theme from Jack Hargreaves’ Out of Town. Which is a version of Recueredos de la Alhambra youtu.be/tgUE3UvtcPs?...

It was interesting to figure out what the music should be. I guess, like the Johnny Flynn stuff on Detectorists and Digging for Britain I wanted it to be folkish but not from any particular tradition. There’s definitely a wonder and reverence from non-archaeologists and I guess, being detached

🏺 On #archaeology, the practice and meaning of it, as emotionally resonant & inspirational; reminds me of the affection and something more - wonder? reverence? - behind Detectorists, the soundtrack for that, and the musical connection through to Digging For Britain as Time Team's successor.
