This could be interesting for people who don't have the time and/or skills to upload an avatar through Unity. On the other hand we will have to wait and see how many VRChat users are willing to pay money for an avatar that is not unique and cannot be customized.

No, it doesn't affect performance, it just renders the normals in a different way so that you don't see the individual faces anymore. Do a right-click on the mesh in Blender and select "Shade Smooth". Like the name suggests it's just a shading option and will not add additional geometry.

Looking better and better. But to get rid of that faceted look you should turn on smoothing.

You are getting there! Topology around the eyes looks good now. I would recommend to also make an outer eyeball for the reflections. Also experiment with rotating the eyeballs a little bit outwards. Getting the eyes right is always tricky and requires a lot of tweaking.

I marked some areas that I think will cause shading issues later. I also hope that you will replace the current eyeballs with lowpoly ones :)
Really like the body proportions so far, very athletic with good muscle definition.

A few remarks...
- Try to avoid very stretched polygons, they may give you issues later, like shading artefacts in blendshape anims
- You don't need the geometry inside the eye sockets, also delete everything else that will not be visible anyways
- In general polygon count could be more optimized
