MicroSeq2025 is an online meeting being held on September 3rd and 4th, focused on research being conducted on sequencing data generated from microbiological samples (bacteria, fungi, and viruses). MicroSeq2025's cash prizes for best talk ($150) and best lightning talk ($50) are sponsored by The Australian Society for Microbiology. The best virology talk ($100) is sponsored by the Australasian Virology Society. The People's Choice awards for best talk ($100) and best lightning talk ($50) are sponsored by Microbial Genomics. In 2025, the new Innovation in Bioinformatics prize ($100) is being introduced. This prize is specifically for a talk of any length featuring a newly developed bioinformatic software, tool, or pipeline applicable to research utilising the sequencing data of microbes. Merch prizes will be given to the best question asked in each session.
