Some details on the plant life and black rims, and just like that they’re done! Incredibly pleased with how these have turned out.

Now to paint the minis to go on them!

A forest base for Age of Sigmar. A UV torch is curing a small stream made from resin which runs across the base.

Basing project phase 11- after a slight pause for some paints to be delivered, normal service resumes with some UV resin streams on a couple of bases for some variety and interest.

No picture for basing phase 10- repeated applications of greens and browns. Washes, glazes and some outright painting in a quest to achieve both a messy blur between the main colours but also clearly defined areas of colour that pop so it doesn’t all just merge together when on the table

Basing phases 8 and 9 complete. The Process was Trusted and after a black prime with a white zenithal, followed by some rough airbrushing in of brown and dark green inks with some grey patches, I begin to be hopeful that maybe I’ve not ruined them all!

Basing phase 7 was a coat of varnish to seal everything down.

Basing phase 6 tonight- vegetation! Tufts, tufts and more tufts. Plus judicious application of trimmed aquarium plants for a bit of variety.

Basing phase 4 (vines and roots) complete, we now move on to phase 5- grass and leaf litter.

Loving seeing these come together, although we are rapidly moving towards a fairly big “trust the process” moment which is kinda terrifying…

New project on the painting… well, on the basing table is currently more accurate. Trying something new (for me) here- phases 1 and 2 are cork for some elevation followed by mud texture to smooth the gradients and tie it all together

See also the Duinclaw with a spear perched on top of a mountain I came up against today- counts as Eidolon of the Storm!

On to game 3, which was a mirror against Douglas’ IDK. MVP was my tidecaster who held off a unit of eels- took a single wound then spiked and did 12 damage back! Managed to lift his turtle quickly as well and got a clear victory to finish the day on 2-1 and 6th overall. Happy with that!

Game two was against Craig’s Cities of Sigmar- 3 cannon and 3 Command Corps. Launched everything into him with a double turn… and bounced. Lost that game, as expected!

Fun one-day tournament there today at Capital Punishment. Game one went according to plan against David’s Slaves to Darkness. Played cagey and fed him sharks, returning them on his home objectives while tying up his Varanguard for a close victory.

And with the rims freshly painted black, I’m calling this Incarnate and accompanying Tendrils finished. All ready to come out and play at Capital Punishment next weekend!

Doing some model surgery tonight to reattach the *THREE* eels which came off their flight stands during a single game on Wednesday. Hoping they stay put for the duration of next Saturday’s tournament!

My wife did the Moonwalk (overnight walking marathon) at the weekend; I took the kids to meet her at the finish line with motivational signs they had made on A3 card. This was my son’s rather minimalist approach! 😂

A WhatsApp new message banner from going into a group chat after multiple new messages have been sent since last viewed. Banner shows 11,517 unread messages.

Apparently I don’t “just dip in” to that one WhatsApp group chat as often as I thought… and this is just new messages since May!

I think my favourite thing about miniature painting is how much it teaches about the colours of nature. Want to paint realistic water? Then it isn’t blue. It’s blue and green and grey and white and black and brown and all their shades blurred together in a chaotic harmony.

And as for rocks…?

The final decals have been applied, so calling my latest #Bloodbowl team done.

Week 3 of teaching my eldest child to play tabletop wargaming. The OG #warcry starter set really coming into its own!

Just seen both that they are making a Highlander reboot and who they’re casting- Cavill, Gillan, Crowe, Bautista… Should be good!

Just opened a fresh bottle of tamiya cement- decided to splurge the extra 24p and go for the quick setting type this time. Whoooeee is that stuff strong smelling!

Difficult to overstate the practical benefits of having a fridge right next to where you store minis for when you’re rearranging which Really Useful Box they’re in. Guaranteed clear surface that you can put them on!

Just checked the tracking for a parcel. Apparently it’s due to be delivered (in Edinburgh) today, despite the fact that it’s currently reported as being in Chelmsford. I admire the Royal Mail’s optimism!

We got it this morning just as I was walking the kids to school. Made me regret my decision to take a golf umbrella instead of a waterproof jacket! It was far too warm for a coat though…

Surprisingly quick to paint up, but very satisfying. Enjoying the high contrast between the armour and leather compared to the blue/white ice bases

Indecision on the painting table. Sigmar models I’ll probably need for a tournament next month and Sigmar models I want to try out for future games have ultimately lost out to Painting For Fun, namely some Blood Bowl minis I just felt like painting for no particular reason!

Am I the only one who’s actually quite disconcerted by a GW reveal that’s not happening in the wee small hours of the morning?

So overall went 2-3 (as I’d expected). But a nice bonus was coming in second place for my Ogroid Thaumaturge in the Best Painted Warlord competition!
