– Tight coauthoring groups are co-cited more often
– Citation behavior is not just individual: it’s embedded in collaboration networks

3/n Our data: Chilean astronomers (2013–2015)
🔧 Method: Relational Hyperevent Model (captures group-based events like coauthoring and citing)
💡 Key insight: Coherent groups of coauthors are more likely to be co-cited together — social structure reinforces cognitive links.

Beyond content relevance, we consider how social ties (coauthorship) and cognitive continuity shape citation choices.
Think of citation as the tip of a longer collaborative and intellectual process.

6/6 I’m very grateful for the many discussions, collaborations, and exchanges of ideas over the past three weeks. I’m now soon heading back to Chile, excited to begin teaching my new Social Networks course at ISUC - Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile this year!
