Not to go full Process relitigation here, but sometimes a team is so immensely screwed by terrible past decisions that it has no realistic path back to legitimate contention unless it gets absurdly lucky and finds a Giannis/SGA in the middle of the draft *or* gets a few high lotto picks.

The NBA is coming down so hard on the Jontay types because it does *not* want players engaged in that conduct.

To me, what Cuban is saying is that if a team wants to piss away a season for a 14% shot at the No. 1 pick and a 50/50 shot at a top-4 pick, so be it. That might be their best path out.

Wasn't Jontay on a two-way deal at the time of his scandal? Him removing himself early from a game probably increased his team's chances of winning, lol

The owners would lose out on gate/TV revenue, but they'd also have to pay less in salary, so one would hope it'd wind up being somewhat of a wash for them?

Would love to see how those bullies fare at a public school!
