Honestly, it's one of your best, but dear God did some of it hit waaaaaaay too close to home.

In a horrible, confusing, gross, dumpster fire of a year... I still might get my Cubs vs Tigers World Series.

I'm tired... I opened an app and almost immediately saw a person's last moments, was then immediately reminded that the most dangerous thing I can do for my leukemia surviving child is send him to school, and then got a text from my Dad's wife telling me he has lung cancer.

I need a break.

I fully intend to take my entire allotment of "micro-retirement" this year.

Jesus, history isn't only rhyming it's the full on, Disney, live-action remake.

This administration is killing the best parts of the Republic. The vibrant communities at home and the ones it has helped create abroad. It's killing our kindness, and telling us empathy is somehow a sin. How is this our shining city on a hill? How can we look future generations in the eye?

He would rather feint at windmills than actually go out into these communities and meet the people. People who would likely offer him community and yes, probably a meal

I've learned how important a community can be, how caring for each other means we all make it, and how bright and vibrant the world is outside of the small part of it I was raised in.

My Chinese and Korean roommates in college made sure that everyone in our building felt a sense of community. That there was always an open dinner invitation, that Fridays were Guitar Hero and karaoke night, and that nobody ever felt alone.

My life has never been made "worse" by an immigrant.
