Literally the worst response anyone can give is the "it could be worse" response. Even telling that to yourself inevitably makes you feel worse. It just feels like a response you give when you want someone to shut up about something.

My job for 6 years was literally looking for natural gas and Carbon Monoxide leaks. If it's nat gas you will smell it and it doesn't cause sickness.
