Not been on here for a while but thought I'd share a LOCI resource. Hate teaching this but found a wee bit of structure helped smooth the concept out (after some time practicing the basic constructions separately).

I think it tells you how tall to draw the normal graph at that point, but might be wrong. Either way seems absolutely useless.

Quite satisfied with the decision map my Y13s helped put together for Normal Distribution.

Maybe only things missing are ones involving parallel lines or isosceles triangles?

We've got one kid with that calculator and he just laughs at us like a supervillain when we do stats 🤣

Working with the Binomial CD function on the calculator - mini whiteboard activity & a couple of basic bits of independent work. Number to left seemed to make an enormous difference with "what to type in"!

There are some really nice applets on bossmaths. Physically I've tried running string from one corner of the classroom to the other in the past so they're inside the cube, seemed to help a little.

I think the message of "be excellent to each other" to the council of elders is unironically one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

Ok, not maths today but maths this week!

Trying to help kids access nasty "hannah's sweets" style algebraic probability problems, found sorting the key info into tables unlocked this for many.

Some of them are flawless. If Conan had only ever written marge Vs monorail, I'd still think he was one of the six funniest men of all time.

same with John swartzwelder from that era - if you've not read them, his books are genuinely laugh out loud funny.

Non-right triangles felt like a right slog.

It's mad they don't notice things like this isn't it?! There's a don steward multiplication one where all the answers come as 123456, 234567... and I asked mine when finished to "make one that does that" and they had absolutely no idea what I meant.

Found these two graphic really helpful running a "masterclass" for year 11 today.... a "big picture" major ideas and one "tactical moves" - do one of these when stuck.

Working with direct/inverse proportion problems where two relationships need to be combined.
Really useful to give them some problems where the initial relationships had already been completed and just practice combining before going full whammy.
