Not been on here for a while but thought I'd share a LOCI resource. Hate teaching this but found a wee bit of structure helped smooth the concept out (after some time practicing the basic constructions separately).
A copy below if anyone wants to use.

The original police squad contains at least twenty of the best jokes ever written, but for reasons I can't explain, I adore the exchange
"Who are you? And how did you get in here?"
"I'm a locksmith. And... I'm a locksmith"

Really like the prompts here, I need to do this more frequently.
31.03.2025 18:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Made a couple more mixed homeworks for year 12 & 13.
Feedback from kids really positive - they find including some similar problems really useful this term.

Made this resource to review circle theorems with year 11 group - the "hinted" combination section worked really well.

I think it tells you how tall to draw the normal graph at that point, but might be wrong. Either way seems absolutely useless.
25.03.2025 17:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Quite satisfied with the decision map my Y13s helped put together for Normal Distribution.

nearest 7 is delicious.
24.03.2025 20:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Really like this.
Maybe only things missing are ones involving parallel lines or isosceles triangles?
I've some like this if they're any use?
23.03.2025 13:27 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0We've got one kid with that calculator and he just laughs at us like a supervillain when we do stats ๐คฃ
23.03.2025 13:04 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Working with the Binomial CD function on the calculator - mini whiteboard activity & a couple of basic bits of independent work. Number to left seemed to make an enormous difference with "what to type in"!
Shared here in case it's useful.

Kids liked the previous iteration of this, so made another for
prisms and pyramids - pleasantly surprised how well they've done with this!

Updated here with suggestions incorporated (and one typo corrected which my year 10s were only too happy to tell me about!!!).
Seemed to work really well for them.

There are some really nice applets on bossmaths. Physically I've tried running string from one corner of the classroom to the other in the past so they're inside the cube, seemed to help a little.

Updated to this:
Wonder what people think of this?
Trying to help with 3D trig & pythag by drawing "helpful triangles" as we introduce this.
Not used it yet so may be useless...
May do similar for pyramids/prisms if it helps.

I think the message of "be excellent to each other" to the council of elders is unironically one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
16.03.2025 17:28 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ok, not maths today but maths this week!
Trying to help kids access nasty "hannah's sweets" style algebraic probability problems, found sorting the key info into tables unlocked this for many.
If it's helpful for anyone the resource is here

My current round of AS & A2 HWKS attached, again including some "similar" problems to use as worked examples if needed.

Some of them are flawless. If Conan had only ever written marge Vs monorail, I'd still think he was one of the six funniest men of all time.
same with John swartzwelder from that era - if you've not read them, his books are genuinely laugh out loud funny.
Non-right triangles felt like a right slog.
Trialled this "hinted" resource to help kids try to get a feel for sequencing their tactical decisions.

Already a fantastic song, the Ed Stasium remix of this lifts it to a comfortable top 3 rock songs ever written (probably sliding right in between Born to Run and The House That Heaven Built).

It's mad they don't notice things like this isn't it?! There's a don steward multiplication one where all the answers come as 123456, 234567... and I asked mine when finished to "make one that does that" and they had absolutely no idea what I meant.
05.03.2025 18:57 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Found these two graphic really helpful running a "masterclass" for year 11 today.... a "big picture" major ideas and one "tactical moves" - do one of these when stuck.

Nothing thrilling, just the year 12 version of my HWK this week - again, includes some "similar" problems the students could use as a worked example if stuck.

Working with direct/inverse proportion problems where two relationships need to be combined.
Really useful to give them some problems where the initial relationships had already been completed and just practice combining before going full whammy.

Experimenting with adding some similar problems to pages 3 & 4 so the students who are struggling can use as worked examples.

If this doesn't move you I presume you also don't like Christmas, sunshine or the laughter of children.
Simply incredible.
