I sincerely believe that they should add a fourth division called "Veterans" for everyone old enough to remember 9/11

the game isn't as fun when you are constantly playing against maidenless zoomers hopped up on addy and zyn living at home with their rich parents who have all the time in the world to memorize their lines and outs against every major deck archetype.

So much has changed since 2018. The entire thought process behind decks has changed. We didnt have limitless back in the day. People homebrewed a lot more and added their own unique spin. That era of the tcg is gone, and it is quite sad.

I don't regret leaving Twitter, but I feel less connected to the Pokémon TCG community since I did. It's not always a bad thing, but from a competitive standpoint I don't see the discussion around new decks, techs, and so on, that I used to be able to read.

Today marks 26 years since I began the site that became Serebii!

Every passing year I get more flabbergasted by the site's continual support and growth. There are times when I thought its peak was behind us but this year continues to break records.

The competitive scene exploded post-COVID but that was also when Expanded stopped seeing official tournaments. I wonder if given the new amount of people paying attention to the game if Expanded wouldn't see a meta shakeup with more brains on the problem.

I had that fear (which is why I haven't dove into it yet), but I wonder if that's not a function of fewer eyeballs on the meta than Standard has.

For comparison, the RS-PK meta is pretty fluid despite that those cards have been around for 18 years.

Standard rewards the ability to practice and memorize lines and outs more than it rewards creative or strategic thinking, comparatively.

This probably won't fix the pace of game issues (I can see games being much faster). But the deck variance forces players to actually have to think rather than just memorize lines of play of common decks.

Expanded has ~14 years of cards to play with! Yes, a lot of them are going to have some wild and goofy interactions (that's what banlists are for). But that should lead to wider deck variance and therefore creativity.

One of the most fun things about RS-PK, aside from the card designs being significantly more balance with a much slower pace of play, is that it makes use of 5 years' worth of cards as opposed to 3, which is the case in Standard.

I really hope that Expanded comes back in some kind of official capacity because the Pult+Gard dominance of the meta speaks to a lack of deck diversity and creativity, not so much the fault of players as much the game designers and rotational schedule.

Especially now that JustinBasil/Jason has passed away, it really demonstrates the value of archiving the web and democratizing knowledge. We owe so much to hobbyists who do what they do just for the love of the game. The web is built by generous people like that.

Rest in peace Jason/Justinbasil. He was such a huge part of the Pokemon TCG community and his contributions were astronomical. Jason was a huge inspiration to, not just us, but to so many people who love this game. The loss will be felt for a while and will be missed by so many. Rest well Jason 🍃

Of all the cool stuff from the Pokemon gigaleak I think the that makes me most joy is confirmation that those rad 3D TCG arts likely all have actual models somewhere based on the model entire for the Holon region in TCG being archived

the ideal way to consume Star Wars content at this point is to just put on the SWTOR soundtrack and go down a Wookieepedia rabbit hole

I do adore that the product photos for the Pokemon Center Jumbo plush always feature a 30 something woman in nice clothes with an otherwise completely sterile normal house full of plain ikea furniture, no other notable decor and then also just a giant Wailord

Main theme of the deck is to use Challenge to fill your bench with promo Eevees, and then when something evolves then all of the Eevees (both yours and your opponent's) can search your deck and evolve.

* lots of gimmicky cards like Blaine's Quiz and Pokemon Personality Test
* fun Stage-1 supporters like Porygon2 and Dodrio
* some stall-oriented medium-HP basics to allow for setup

I finally got to test out my Base-Neo Eevee Cube this weekend and got valuable feedback.

I will post the updated list with pics later, but in summary:

* 2-player 80-card cube
* additionally, each player starts with 4 Chain Reaction promo Eevees
* cube contains one of each B-N eeveelution
