I may have kept a poker face but my answer totally give me away & my student said they were delighted that I had differentiated between canon/non-canon compliant works, AUs, etc. I can’t wait until I find out that this student is part of the crew 😆

Started teaching copyright law to my intro IP course last night

This morning a student has a question & asks “do you know what fan fiction is?”

Had to keep a poker face so as to not immediately tell them about *all* of the OFMD stories I have read. Or how many open AO3 tabs I have on my phone 😆🏴‍☠️❤️🫡

It’s great that you’ve documented all this. If you think of any other admissions against interest by them, send the quotes by email to yourself for a date-stamped reminder. I hope they do the right thing, but my late mother raised me to be paranoid & neurotic so I’m programmed to catastrophize 🤷‍♀️

I hope insurance handle this for you. But as your fandom lawyer friend, wanted to say if she tries to change her story, that last part abt how she drives irresponsibly b/c of traffic conditions is an admission against interest & admissible in court to prove the truth (that she did something wrong) ❤️
